Marketing Implementation Plan (Warmilu)

With Warmilu being a startup company it was necessary to create some sort of an Marketing implementation plan. Although are resources are not as vast as larger companies, we have ideas to take Warmilu to the next level. Stacy and Myself have been bouncing ideas off of each other all week and are hoping that Grace and Steve enjoy our proposed ideas. The 15th will be the day we finalize our ideas and present our information.

Warmilu Work Session (8/8)

This weeks work session was a very busy one as final changes were made to the website as well as a marketing implementation plan. Website changes were very minor and included mostly formatting. Stacy and myself also got to meet the newest intern to the group Charlie Fry! He is still in high school, but he knowledge of amazon and eBay selling is very extensive! I was extremely surprised and impressed with Charlies abilities! As the day came to an end Stacy and myself created a marketing plan and presented it to CEO Grace. Overall very productive work session.

Digital Engagement Clinic Meeting (Bob Chunn)

At today's intern meeting, everything went as normally scheduled, but there was a guest speaker. CEO of Content Oro Bob Chunn. Bob talked about what his start up was about and how the interns are helping his company tremendously. It was really cool to see how, all of the interns are impacting these small companies so dramatically. Bob also talked about who helped him start the company and how he plans to keep the wheels running.

Google Analytics Certified

After failing the exam my first try and upping my study regime, I was able to pass the Google Analytics Exam 2nd time! With my current experience with the program through Bud Gibson's courses and a more focused look in the fundamentals in the academy,  it made the 2nd attempt much smoother. I'm glad to say i'm certified, but with technology always fast changing I know that keeping myself current will only benefit me in my future endeavors.

Warmilu Work Session #7

At this particular work session WordPress was being extremely buggy and it was not making the changes that we were implementing. Through various trial and error scenarios, we were finally able to figure out that the best method of implementation was though the backend. Stacy and myself were able to help Grace populate every page which led to the website becoming live at the end of the session. Awesome to see that our work is something that people of the inter webs can check out.

Digital Engagement Clinic Internship Alumni Panel (7/22)

At the Digital Engagement Clinic Internship meeting this week, all of the interns got to meet alumni of Eastern Michigan who went though Buds Gibson's search marketing courses. Alumni included Eric Wortman, Drew Marcum, Chris Kujawski, Alex Merz, Jorel McCree, and Matthew Laurin. All alumni are doing different careers within the search marketing field and it really broadened my horizons to how they got to the positions they are holding now. They also gave all of the interns a lot of great advice with online personas and as well as interview tips. Glad I was able to meet with each one and hear their stories on how they started their professional careers.

Warmilu Work Session #6

At the 6th work session, I was able to meet up with Grace and Steve at Grace's office and show my progress to both of them. The session went very well, as we started by updating each other with the progress we had made. I was able to tell them my struggles with Google Tag Manager (GTM) and how we could resolve the problem. I had finally found the best way to implement the program and it was off to the races. At the end of the session, their website had been tagged and implemented with GTM and grace couldn't be happier. Website launch date is upcoming, keep your eyes peeled for the finished product!

Analytics Certification Attempt #1

Due to no intern weekly meet up the week of the 13th, Stacy and Myself decided to meet up and study for the certification exams as well as attempt them. I was going for the Analytics certification, while Stacy was going for the AdWords. Once we both had decided that we had enough studying, we saddled up and started our corresponding exams. Stacy was able to pass part 1 of her 2 part exam, while I received a 75% my first try. I was a little disappointed, but the test showed me that I was still weak in understanding the URL section of the exam. I plan on taking it again the 22nd and having a much different result.

Warmilu Work Session #5

At the 5th work session which occurred on the 9th this month, I was able to meet up with Grace at her office and hash out some information details as well as continue to improve the website. Due to scheduling conflicts with both Steve and Stacy, Grace and myself we the only one able to meet u in person. I started to implement Google Tag Manager(GTM) to their website while also helping Grace with any formatting changes or questions she had. This day was a very tedious and stressful work session as GTM was not cooperating with my methods.

Digital Engagement Meeting 7/8

At the weekly intern meet up, everyone had shown great progress with their incubator firms including Stacy and myself! At the meeting, Stacy and I had shown how we have made significant changes to their website and how it will be ready for launch in the next couple of weeks. At the meeting this week, we were able to learn from one of Eastern Michigan's own Russ Merz. He explained to us how using and understanding social media was key to understanding if ROI. With all the different types of social engagement, he helped put that information into perspective how they can be organized and accounted for.

Warmilu Work Day #4 (7/4)

On Saturday, myself and Stacy participated in a digital work session with Grace and Steve of Warmilu. During the session, my responsibilities included creating links throughout the entire website and adding logos of partnering companies. This was accomplished through the Wordpress program. I was able to accomplish all of these tasks I set out to do. I even started implementing Google Tag Manager to these links to track the user experience. I've learned so much from Grace and Steve and I know that this is just the beginning!

Digital Engagement Meeting (7/1)

At today's meet up of all the interns for the Digital Engagement Clinic, we all showed our progress we had made with our incubator firms and what we had planned to accomplish for the week. Everyone is making a huge impact for each of their incubator firms! Each team is doing different work tailored towards the incubators goals, but so far there has been no problems or issues for anyone. At the end, we got to listen to Chad Wiebesick give us tips on how to enhance our online brands. This was extremely useful and I was glad I had the chance to listen and meet him in person.

Warmilu Work Day #3

Worked with Warmilu on Saturday the 27th and got started on the tasks we had created through Trello. Stacy started with the Blog page and I was assigned with the Home page. The way the page was currently set up on Wordpress I had to create text boxes to create links to other pages. So I spent most of the day rewriting content and implementing different CSS codes to keep the theme of the website consistent. I plan on creating links on the home page to different pages next and then applying Google tag manager to those links to track the user experience further.

Digital Engagement Meet #2

Wednesdays the 24ths meeting went extremely well and was a good insight into what the other interns of the program  were up to. Myself and Stacy Louis presented on our incubator company Warmilu and the work that we had provided for them. Although it was mainly task generation, it was awesome how we utilized Trello to order our tasks while also keeping track of what needed to be done when. I think that working with Grace and Steve will be a great experience while also a great way further expand my professional connections.

Funny On the Job Reccomendation

At work on Thursday the 18th, I was working with a customer and telling her all the details she had inquired. After thoroughly explaining to her everything she had wanted she said, "You should get your realtors licence and work with me".  She was very impressed with my customer service and knowledge of the service i was providing. Although I was very flattered at the time and thanked her, I knew due to being in school along with my internship that it would be difficult to find time for a full time job.

Possible Website Layout Changes

I've enjoyed the simplicity and clearness of my current website template, but I feel it could express me a bit better. I might also make a few changes to the layout so keep your eyes peeled and watch the changes unfold! Learning how to do all of these alterations myself can be challenging at times, but the blogger program makes adding and changing themes extremely easy. Utilize blogger if your looking to easily customize your personal website and you wont regret it!

Website Analytic's

Inputting analytic's into this website has truly helped me understand how important it is to keep blogs and other social media up to date. With posting and other forms of expression, website data can have more visitors than ever before. I've found that when I keep my posting consistent page views and new visitors increase, but when there is no frequent updating, visitors are more likely to not return. I rule that I need to start holding myself accountable to is to keep posting! More posts, more visitors!

Benefits of Ad Extensions

While using the Google Ad words software, I've found that site links are an extremely helpful tool to enhance your online search ads. By using the tool, you can link different parts to the webpage to the user to make the ad more enticing to click on. I've found the tool to enhance all of my ads when it came to CTR and never second guessed when inputting them on my ads. If you have the opportunity or haven't checked it out, give it a try and let the data speak for itself!

United Way 2-1-1

I'm currently working with United Way of Washtenaw County and I've just created another ad group that could benefit the website tremendously. 2-1-1 is a big partner with Untied Way for providing local programs and utilizing that awareness could create enormous traffic to the website theoretically. Adgroup and keywords are now in effect. Now time to wait.

Warmilu Work Day #2

Saturday the 20th, Myself, Steve, Grace, and Stacy met though google hangouts and worked from home. We had started our day by establishing our tasks and making sure that they were in line with the goals Grace had set. Once they were all approved, we started to work. I had been assigned with implementing Google Tag Manager on website to gather more data on the user experience. I had trouble at first figuring out how to implement the code into wordpress, but with some tinkering I was able to implement the program.

First Day With Warmilu (6/19)

On Friday the 19th, was my first day with Warmilu. Grace and Steve had set up an itinerary for our scheduled time. We first started off with product demonstrations and then moved quickly to operations. This included how we would track our success through Trello while using the AGILE method. Once all this was explained, we then decided what our  KPI's would be for the 8 weeks myself and Stacy would be working. After, we then got assigned our responsibilities and what would we would be accountable for.

First Digital Engagement Clinic Meeting (6/17)

On Wednesday the 17th, all of the interns of the first ever Digital Engagement Clinic Internship met up in Ann Arbor Sparks headquarters. There Bud Gibson (creator of the program and creator of Eastern Michigan's search marketing program), reviewed to all interns what was expected of us during the 8 weeks. He also explained how the weekly meetings required us to share our weekly accomplishments with our selected companies. With that, alumni and other guest speakers would talk to all interns about their experiences within the digital marketing field.

Grace and Steve of Warmilu

On Tuesday the 16th, I got to meet Warmilu's CEO and Director of Operations Grace Hsia and Steve Dean. We started off with a casual get to know each other and then quickly switched gears to what Warmilu was about and how I would be assisting them during the 8 weeks of the internship. Grace and Steve are both very passionate about their company and want their products and brand to be a well known around the world. Due to being somewhat short staffed, both Grace and Steve are having to do multiple tasks with what little time they have. That's where I come in. Myself and Stacy Louis will be helping with website development along with content writing.

A week ago, I was notified that I had been selected for a new Internship opportunity called the Digital Engagement Clinic. I am extremely excited and thankful for being selected for this opportunity. During this internship, I will be working with the company Warmilu to help create better digital marketing for their website through search and corrosponding ads. I currently have a meeting scheduled for 6/16/15 with Warmilu's own Stacy and Steve to learn more about their company.

United Way (Amanda Reel)

- Today I got the chance to meet with Amanda Reel Community Impact Leader & Volunteer Center Manager of the Non-Profit organization United Way. I learned a lot about what service they provide to the county of Washtenaw and how they are looking to create a stronger web presence. Keeping the long term and short term objectives that Amanda has described to me in mind, I know I will be able to help create more traffic to their organizations website through a stronger Ad words campaign.
